Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the virtues of family football academic scholarship with volunteerism in the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was along with three brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. For 1973 Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the nation's top lineman. Oklahoma won two National Championships during his three-year tenure as the lineman. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975, and was named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer every week while in the course of his college. He returned to Tampa after college, played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-time all-pro. The beginning of his business career came. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and also the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's the top 10 most promising young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
